Guerra e Pace in progress (10)
L’articolo dell’Economist segnalato ieri e anche in italiano qui. Intanto sul Corriere Severgnini scrive una lettera ad un amico americano citando anche l’articolo di Paul Krugman di martedi, ma sul suo sito c’e la risposta ad un quesito piu importante: si scrive Iraq o Irak? Leibniz scrive Iraq e poi come aggettivo usa iracheno (una scelta piuttosto disarmonica, in realta). Sul New Yorker un bel ’Questions and answers’ con Nicholas Lemann, ecco - tra l’altro - cosa puo andare storto alla fine di una guerra che deve ancora iniziare:
The worst worst-case scenario, I suppose, would be that the United States would lose the war. Next worst would be a bloody, protracted war. If the war itself ends very quickly in an American victory, as practically everybody in Washington expects, the next-worst scenario would be either that Iraq would dissolve into internal ethnic strife, on the model of Yugoslavia, or that large portions of the country would not be under government control and would become havens for Al Qaeda and other terrorist groups, on the model of Pakistan.
