Alla
fine gli iracheni hanno votato. Pare che alle urne si sia recato oltre
il 60% degli aventi diriitto, quasi 8 milioni di persone. Gente che una
volta non aveva scelta ha intinto il dito nell’inchiostro e ha marcato
una scheda elettorale. Qualcuno, temendo di essere poi identificato, ha
pulito subito il dito sporco. Un po’ di foto sono sul sito del NY Times, mentre il Wall Street Journal ha raccontato i
blogger impegnati a seguire le elezioni: come Husayn Uthman, che ha
cambiato il nome del suo weblog da “Democracy in Iraq” a “Democracy in
Iraq (Is Here!)”. Sul Guardian Robin Cook ha ricordato l’importanza del ritiro delle truppe entro un anno. E per quanto resta, magari rendono bene le parole di Healing Iraq, che invece sta a Hamman:
The turnout in Iraq was really like nothing that I had expected. I was glued in front of tv for most of the day. My mother was in tears **watching the scenes from all over the country. **Iraqis had voted for peace and for a better future, despite the surrounding madness. I sincerely hope this small step would be the start of much bolder ones, and that the minority which insists on enslaving the majority of Iraqis would soon realise that all that they have accomplished till now is in vain.
